Photos of Sardar Reuben Singh matching his turbans to the colour of Roll Royces have been doing rounds on social media leaving many in awe. Legend had it that an English businessman made fun of Sardars turban, prompting the Indian businessman to tell him that he will match all seven days of the week at work in a Rolls Royce with his turbans. While in his early 20s, Sardar was hailed as the 'British Bill Gates', founding the Miss Attitude teen fashion store in the 90s. But his meteoric rise was followed by an equally precipitous fall. He was force to sell the store for a shocking £1(Sh143) pound and lost control of his second business, alldayPA, to his parents. Singh was declared bankrupt in 2007 with debts of over £11 million. The United Bank for Africa Plc has introduced a chatbot that enables its customers to make use of their social media accounts to carry out key banking transactions. The bank said the chatbot, called Leo, available on Facebook messenger, would enable customers to open new accounts, receive instant transaction notifications, check their balances on the go, carry out transfers and airtime top up. Speaking at the unveiling of the chat banking service in Lagos, the Group Managing Director, UBA, Mr. Kennedy Uzoka, said this was the first time that a financial institution in Africa would come up with such a solution to ease customers’ transactions. He added that it had become necessary in the fast-paced world to deliver quick-time transactions and response based on customers’ demands. He revealed that his invention started in August last year and with a lot of effort and hard work, he managed to finish his creation and tested it in a shallow dam in his area. These words were played out by a seemingly disturbing incident of two shameless pupils from two different high schools in Bulawayo (names supplied) who were caught romping in a cemetery. The pupils’ raunchy encounter is said to have happened on Monday afternoon at West Park Cemetery. Rear Adm. Victor Adedipe, the outgone Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) Eastern Naval Command of the Nigerian Navy, Calabar, says the command destroyed no fewer than 150 illegal refineries between June 2017 and January 2018. Adedipe said that the illegal refineries destroyed within the Command’s area of operation included those within the maritime domain of Rivers, Akwa Ibom and Cross River states. Adedipe said this during the handing over of the command to his successor, Rear Adm. Matthew Emuekpere in Calabar. Adedipe said that since his resumption on June 29, 2017, the command had witnessed drastic reduction of crude oil theft, illegal bunkering and piracy.
